SAY what you like about Keith Wyness, and let’s face it most blues need no invitation, but he inherited a massive job when he took over as chief executive at Everton.
The club was in financial disarray, with stifling great slabs of debt all over the place and we were bleeding money at an alarming rate.

KEVIN Keegan smiled, shrugged then answered the Sky reporter with admirable honesty.
Asked about his hopes for next season after Newcastle’s 0-2 reverse to Chelsea in Tyneside yesterday, his words stood out from the perennial cliched football-ese churned out by coy managers.

AS this thrilling season goes down to the proverbial wire, the stadium debate has also quietly moved into a pivotal phase.
With Knowsley council’s planning decision looming on the horizon - and then the all-important Government call-in response - it will hopefully be sooner rather than later when we know if The Kirkby Project is going to happen.

SHIRLEY Manson eh...what happened to her? You still probably would though, wouldn’t you?

And the title to one of her very-average mid-90’s hits also sums up a very irritating breed of supporter at Goodison lately.

ANYONE else watch Fiorentina and Zenit underwhelm last night with a mixture of frustration and mild despair?
It’s that familiar old “what might have been..” melancholy (file alongside the King’s Dock and that chubby kid from Crocky).
THE 'OTHER' PEOPLE'S CLUB

THEY don't come much sadder than the story of young Kopite Liam Harker.
The 17-year-old is presently coming to terms with the fact that he won't be around for much longer.
I won't blather on any more, his story is below, but I will say congratulations to Liverpool F.C.
The club seem to have gone out of their way to do what they can for Liam, and I hope he lives to see that banner on the Kop.
It's nice to see that, regarldess of internal wranglings, some people from the other side of the park haven't forgotten what matters.

AS OUR increasingly-stretched squad puff and wheeze to the finish line with very little left in their legs, thoughts naturally turn to the summer.
So although the season still has a crucial clutch of games yet to play, I’m wondering who we should try and bring in.
TOFFEE TRUMPS

FOUND a pack of the aforementioned kids’ playing cards on my mate’s desk in work earlier.
They were a promotional gimmicky thing done by our JBlue supporters club in 2003-2004 season.
Just flicking through our assorted squad back then made me realise how far we have come since.
INERTIA

THERE WAS a strange old feeling while watching our grand old team on Sunday.
We all knew the high stakes, were aware of Derby's awfulness, and knew our crowd was healthy and first-team strong.
But despite that, inertia hung over the Goodison crowd like the swollen rain clouds which soon added to the gloom.

JUST an after-thought following the derby.
Can anyone who was at Anfield explain what happend to the Liverpool supporter who digged Phil Neville as he tried to take a throw-in?
Because I’d imagine he was ejected from the ground and banned for the rest of the season, right?
