WHILE the stadium debate heads ominously towards the all-important poll, another battle is raging with more immediate concern.
It's the one we are fighting with one hand died behind our back.
I'M FINDING it very difficult to separate emotion from reality when I think (daily) about our ground debate.
And, although it's as useless as longing for an ex you can't get back, I still can't quite forget about the King's Dock.
“MONEY don’t make my world go round... sang David Brent in a reflective moment at Wernnham Hogg.
But the fictional legend of The Office wouldn’t make a football chief executive. Because as we know full well - when it comes to the Premiership these days - money blatantly does make the world go round.
“Fact as Brent might say.
I HATE to admit it but me and Wayne Rooney have got something in common.
As childhood Evertonians the chubster and yours truly had a common hero - Anders Limpar.
MOYES has had a pop at the buying trend in this summer's market which has seen plenty of average players sold for mega bucks.
It's hard to disagree with him, but that's life. Them's the breaks...
Here's another hard one to swallow - Everton WILL go backwards unless we strengthen further. Worst case scenario, it could be like the 05/06 season all over again.
How can we not learn from that debacle? Every other side is strengthening. Some from positions of newly-acquired wealth (Villa, West Ham, Liverpool), others not (Wigan, Boro.)
I don't think we can afford not to....
Moyes' words are below....what do you think?
"I can understand that because I've been a supporter, in fact I still am a supporter, but we're always quite cagey here and we don't give too much away partly because people know that we don't have the funds to compete at the top end," he said.
"I think there has been some irresponsible buying and spending by some clubs and it makes it a bit more difficult if you've got less money to spend than that."
A LITTLE but well-informed bird tells me Kieran Richardson's move to Everton looks more likely after he was spotted signing autographs outside Bellefield today.
But much more interestingly the name of Bolton captain (and massive Red) Kevin Nolan is being linked to us.
I've long argued the old-Bluecoat boy would make a great signing for Everton.
Can't see Wanderers doing much this year and Nolan's devotion to Big Sam was well known...
Let's hope it's true.
IT looks like the bar is still open and Everton’s number nine is drinking at the last chance saloon once again.
With David Nugent heading elsewhere and no other forwards on the radar, James Beattie looks set to get a final crack at his Goodison career.
Cue moans, groans and grumbles from the usual suspects.
SO Jason Koumas is worth £5.3m in the warped hyper-reality which is this summer’s transfer market.
Let’s re-cap. This is a player who failed to shine consistently for West Brom in the Premiership and only really turned it on last season back in club football’s second tier.
