INTERESTING RUMOURS

Posted by Greg O'Keeffe on July 11, 2007 2:02 PM |

A LITTLE but well-informed bird tells me Kieran Richardson's move to Everton looks more likely after he was spotted signing autographs outside Bellefield today.

But much more interestingly the name of Bolton captain (and massive Red) Kevin Nolan is being linked to us.

I've long argued the old-Bluecoat boy would make a great signing for Everton.

Can't see Wanderers doing much this year and Nolan's devotion to Big Sam was well known...

Let's hope it's true.

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. No signs of Riquelme when your snouts were sniffing round Bellefield? Nolan's got the cut of a hard-working, no-nonsense Blue who'd be a hit with the fans. Is he up for grabs? Everton could certainly do with a homegrown hero to rival Gerrard, Carragher and before them Fowler. Cahill and Arteta are great players but you can't beat a local lad for whipping up some team spirit. Is Moyesy feeling a bit of transfer market pressure yet, do you think?

Nolan has denied being at Bellefield according to Bluekipper.

Don't listen to Touchline Dad - my snouts tell me he's a dirty Red.
Local lad? What, like Wayne "Once a Blue, Always a Blue" Rooney.
And let's not forget the sins of other former Blues (no, not the "bottler" or the goal line sniffer) . . .
"Steve Gerrard, Gerrard, he kisses the badge on his chest - then puts in a transfer request - Steve Gerrard, Gerrard."

Dirty Red? I wash twice a week thank you 'Way Beyond Bloo.' Anyway, ignore him. My snouts tell me my Jack has been to Goodison more often than him over the last 12 months. Over the years the Reds have had phases of signing Scottish, Scandinavian, French and now Spanish players. My point is...both Liverpool and Everton have 'scouts' in their regulation quilted jackets shuffling around every playing field in Merseyside seven days a week watching kids as young as five, yet almost every one-in-a-million Liverpool youngster who gets signed up seems destined for reserve team action for three seasons (perhaps a League Cup appearance) before either being booted to Port Vale on a free or being given a big sponge and calling himself a trainee physio. Nugent would have fitted the bill as a local lad good enough for the Premiership and he is supposedly a boyhood Evertonian. You've also got Stubbsy (Kirkby?), Osman (Skem or Up Holland) and Hibbert (dunno where but sounds like a scouser), but isn't Kevin Nolan despised for being a self-confessed Kopite? Can't see the fans taking to him even if Bolton let him go. Fans like a blend of local and foreign players, but it's usually the local lads who get the most respect and who show the most spirit. Oi Moyesy, less Scots and Mancs and more scousers! What would your all-time Scousers XI be, Gladwys?
