IT was a vintage Moyes moment which underpinned why interviewers must find his dead-eyed gaze and poker-face demeanour such a tough nut to crack.
As the boss faced Sky’s cameras after our second-gear defeat of Wigan on Saturday, Murdoch’s man asked Davie a question that has been on many lips lately.
To paraphrase; ‘Where has all this new money came from?”
Without even blinking, Moyes answered an entirely different question (proceeding to waffle about us having a core of young, good players on long-term contracts) which no doubt left the Sky man biting his lip.
But he did finish by saying, “If there is money available, I’ll certainly spend it.”
If we wrap up the mooted £9m deal for Manny Fernandes and then move for a big-bucks hit-man I think it’s safe to say that someone, somewhere has cracked open a big, fat, royal blue piggy box.
But who is it?

Some say Everton’s new L.A. board-member Robert Earl is the man with the fresh readies.
Others have suggested Kenwright may have asked for a loan from his not-short-of-a-few bob mate Sir Philip ‘Marks & Spencer’ Green.
The internet forums have also been crackling with tales ( admittedly smacking of fantasy) which say a fed-up Moyes threatened to resign after we he was gazumped by yet another club for yet another target this summer (Newcastle and Alan Smith).
Certainly things changed after Smith headed for the North-East...
Suddenly the Blues were making very serious £11m bids for Porto’s captain, eyeing-up the pricey Yakubu and are now on the brink of sealing a deal for one of Portugal’s rising stars.
Nobody with blue blood is complaining.
But we are intrigued.....and if Moyes’s body-swerve to Sky is anything to go by the club aren’t keen to talk about the changing fortunes.
I’ll be ‘watching this space’ with interest.

Great blog, Greg - much better than that of your colleague, the Red "Shirt". Is he a real person?
