DAVE Hickson is as much a part of the fabric of Everton Football Club as it’s possible to be.
To recent younger generations of fans he is the genial gent with the quick-wit who conducts the Goodison tours and commands a hushed reverence from their dads.

The Cannonball Kid, who also played for Liverpool and Tranmere, collapsed with a heart attack an hour before the Sunderland game on Saturday.
It’s a great shame that this classic Royal Blue centre forward missed such a spectacular performance which would have put a smile on his face.
Hickson, who 243 appearances and scored 111 goals for Everton, famously said during an interview: "I would have died for Everton, I would have broke every other bone in my body for any other club, that's how I look at it, you know, if it was that much I would have died for this club."
He is up there with Dixie Dean and Labby as the truest of blues and everyone will be praying he gets better soon.
We’re running a story today about him already sitting up and talking in hospital so fingers crossed his recovery is quick.
