RACISM

Posted by Greg O'Keeffe on December 31, 2007 10:00 AM

INTERESTING and depressing column from Laurence Westgaph in today’s ECHO p.12
Laurence, a passionate blue, tells how he stopped going the match because of racist abuse at Goodison in the 80s.

SICKENER

ANOTHER tussle with the top four leaves us licking the sorest of self-inflicted wounds.
At Old Trafford it was Pienaar’s ‘five-aside sh*t house’ tackle which gave away the points. Against the Gunners it was a combination of uncharacteristic bad defending and finishing.

‘It’s almost a bit scary watching Everton at the moment, because the b*stards are penetrating our tough, cynical skin, formed by years of false hope and disappointment, and making us feel that absolutely anything is possible’.

SILVERWARE

I’M trying to stifle the optimism to protect myself from the bitter taste of disappointment.
I’m aware that we’re only one missed open goal or sloppy defensive set-piece away from the empty feeling.

ZENIT

LET’S hope we give Dick Advocaat pause for thought tonight before making future assessments on English football.
The Dutchman‘s claim that we are Route One merchants should only serve as inspiration for a sparkling performance.
