SOMEONE posted on Bluekipper about a depressing incident after the Blackburn game involving our away fans.
Group of fans walk past a McDonalds and see a lad with Down’s syndrome and his carer. They started to chant stuff about his condition which I’m not going to type.
The poster says; ‘The lad looked scared, he knew they was singing at him and looked really uneasy, head down and nervously smiling.
‘I smiled at the lad on the way out and he actually flinched. His carer was and old fella and he obviously didn't want to say anything. All that happens is people get bad images of our great club and our otherwise fantastic supporters .
‘This kind of behaviour is the lowest of the low and should be completely stamped down on, with lifetime bans. I know its only a minority but its awful. And what gets me the most is that these lads have probably forgotten about this already. Getting on with life, and this lad could quite possibly have bad dreams etc and be properly affected by it’.
So there it is. The post provoked a lot of responses, mostly saddened and furious.
The degenerates who did this might not know Lee Carsley’s little lad Connor has Down Syndrome.
They probably wouldn’t care that my mate Thomas has a daughter Charlotte with the condition too.
We were at Blackburn with his two lads. How would the boys have felt if we’d walked past when this happened?
The majority of our away support are a credit to the club. But the lads responsible for that incident, along with the racists and Munich chanters, don’t represent the Everton F.C. I love.
Unfortunately, they have done to this lad and his carer.
One poster wrote bluntly; ‘Stuff like this is nothing new. Happens all the time’.
Apart from being cynical and flippant that remark highlights how incidents like this can happen again.
It’s not easy to confront a group of lads, and clearly one bloke can’t shut them up, but we can’t just walk past with our heads down when things like this happen.

This really is a shocking incident, cheers for bringing it to light on the blog.
I am going to write to Everton FC and see if there is anything we, as the Down Syndrome Liverpool committee can do.
I urge all fans to write/email EFC to express their disgust also.
Sad that a few mindless idiots can do this.
