TOFFEE TRUMPS

By Greg O Keeffe on Apr 9, 08 04:19 PM

FOUND a pack of the aforementioned kids’ playing cards on my mate’s desk in work earlier.
They were a promotional gimmicky thing done by our JBlue supporters club in 2003-2004 season.
Just flicking through our assorted squad back then made me realise how far we have come since.

Without disrespect to any of the following players, because they all contributed in some way, they included;
Richard Wright,
Steve Watson,
Alessandro Pistone,
Kevin Kilbane,
Gary naysmith,
Scot Gemmill,
Alex Nyarko,
Li Tie,
Steve Simonsen.

If anything, it was a sobering reminder of how vastly the squad has improved and why, should we finish fifth and strengthen further in the summer, we have a lot to be positive about by comparison.

Sorry Greg, but I don't remember Nyarko contributing much apart from a decent goal at spurs and getting that fatty worked up to the point that he stripped down to his bills at arsenal.

Steve Watson...there's a man who forged himself a decent career without having a great deal of talent.
A grafter and a trier I think it would be fair to say.
Never found himself a position did he? Full back, midfield, even centre forward, he was the stereotypical Jack of All Trades.
Sure I saw him cleaning out the Gwladys Street bogs once too.

can i have them back now please!

Oh and you forgot Peter Clarke, Tobias Linderoth, Paul Gerrard and Nick Chadwick.
