MICHAEL BRADLEY

FOR THOSE lucky enough to miss England's friendly against the U.S.A last night, here's my scouting report on "dat Michael Bradley lad".

"I think he's boss. Snap him up before Boro do."

"£4m for Michael Bradley? Are you havin' a laugh? Is he havin' a laugh?"

"Hey, dish guy shcored 18 goals in de Dutch League. He can't be dat bad."

"Let's be honest. Didn't he remind you of a less mobile me?"

"Michael......You're young, energetic and hard-working. But as I'm looking for a more complete player - I'm out."

The Verdict: Whoever replaces Lee Carsley has pretty big boots to fill and it would be harsh to judge the young American on one game.
But based just on this 90 minutes, when Bradley must have been trying to put himself in the shop window, he did not represent the step-up in class Everton need.
His opposite No4, Owen Hargreaves, is the type of player we should be trying to unearth on the continent.

He was woeful... true nearly everyone was and it was only a friendly. However, he seemed to lack pace, a crisp tackle and any kind of fight. He made a few tidy passes but on this showing he needs to improve a hell of a lot to win my vote... Moyes obviously isn't convinced or we would have seen him at Goodison in January...

We need a better quality of player. Hargreaves looked immense. Shame we missed that boat.

I think he looked economical with the ball and quite composed but he never seemed to want it from team-mates and his marking of Gerrard in two goal threat situs was pretty bad. Pretty, pretty bad.

americans always disappoint. max moore, that ernie bloke who's a forward, cobi bryant, lalas, if they're not a goalkeeper or mcbride, then let's look elsewhere.

I don't think its good policy to buy players based on 1 game, i'm sure we'll have looked at other matches he's played him and made a decision based on the overall performance rather than 1 friendly.

Comment: Does Cobi Bryant play football? Does he disappoint playing basketball: I do not think so. Who is "ernie bloke". Never heard of him.

What about Claudio Reyna? He did well at Rangers.

Is this about nationalities? Do football players should jump to the pitch with a passport?

Talking about disappointments: England as a country has not won any title in 42 years.
