1) Walter Smith is/was pretty much a one trick pony. And God it's a boring trick...

2) ...but sometimes route -one gets you everywhere and if Novo had taken his chance it’d have been extra time. (unless you’re Everton. Then route-one just gets you seven goal-less draws and Steve Watson up front).

3) We must do everything we can to sign Arshavin.

4) Moyes is getting better at that urbane pundit gig all the top managers do.

5) It. Should. Have. Been. Us.

6) Rainy, miserable nights in Florence when otherwise great teams don’t turn up have got a lot to answer for.
