MILD depression, stagnancy, lack of anything meaningful - no, not my sparse blog these past few weeks, but my feelings on the club I love.
OK, and the blog.
Yep, the ongoing malaise which has gripped Everton F.C. seems to have gotten to me too. It's like everything that can be said, that needs to be said about the club has, well, been saidduring three months of hand-wringing.
There are no mysteries really, perhaps aside from what precisely is delaying Moyes' new contract.
All we need now is for the team's confidence to re-assert itself and for the defence to rediscover its stinginess. Then, perhaps in January we need to be realistic about our budget and recruit midfielders like Jimmy Bullard or Kevin Nolan.
Anyway, Fellaini looked better against Newcastle didn't he? Here's one nascent chant about him (To the tune of Volare)
Fellaini Oh Oh Oh Oh
Fellaini Oh Oh Oh Oh
He cost us lots of cash,
He's a scouser without the tash.
These quotes from Screech made me laugh too (as told to the Sunday newspapers);
"David Moyes wants me to sprint more during the course of matches. I run a lot, but I do it at my own pace.
"I am just 20 and there are older players whose role is to lift their team-mates. I have never been someone who expresses himself a lot on the pitch - and I haven't become a big talker all of a sudden."
This had a curious effect on me. Initially I was semi-riled by our £15m Premier League record signing being so openly dissident about something as basic as effort.![]()
But then I had to laugh at his stubborn streak, and perhaps maybe the hint that the Belgian is a determined, edgy character who may well have the spirit required to cut the mustard in England after all.
Basically, if Moyes tells him to sprint more, he should sprint more. The premier league is a lot faster than the Belgian league - he needs to accept this fast and get over it.
But fair play to him for sticking up for himself. He's right when he says that he shouldn't be a leader or a lifter of team-mates at a new club.
That job is for Messrs Neville, Arteta, Yakubu and Howard and how they are going about it has been painfully evident for all to see so far...

Welcome back Greg.
1st point. Fellaini gave us a shy look coming off at the Stoke game, he is obviously not a Carsley or Gravesen character in the dressing room. More a "quiet giant".
This hasn't been helped by the fact he currently doesn't speak much English, plus people forget he's only 20 years of age, he's not Pienaar, who's experienced three different countries already.

However, it's obvious Moyes wants him to increase his work rate in games. I think he should too and put himself around more. For a big guy he's certainly mobile enough, and he could dominate the air if he put himself in more.
Also the fact Arteta and Yobo speak French, helps things particuarly Arteta, whom since the summer's been taking more responsibility in the team.
Everyone knows Micky and Cahill are good mates. Its the friendships that make teams.
Arteta will be the one to help Fellaini settle, and will the one Moyes will look to get Fellaini performing on the pitch.
So lets hope he's looking keen as mustard for the next two games!
