Economic experts have been given three weeks to assess how the recession will affect the plans of the club and Tesco.
That should mean both organisations coming up with a rough stab at how the downturn is going to change their forecasts for things like Everton's outlay (£78m, as it once was?), naming rights revenue etc. alongside the expenditure growth in the devlopment.
These are the questions that will concern Evertonians ever so slightly more than whether a new home would effect Skemersdale regeneration.
It's like asking us to worry that a late Cahill winner (like Saturday's thriller) might drop Wigan into a relegation dogfight or something.
Who cares? (apart from Evertonians in Skem perhaps.)
Well, as we mull these and other developments from the inquiry which feels a bit like a phoney war, sobering news emerges of Spurs' plans for their patch of North London.

In case you didn't already have cause to pine for the level of investment our peers have, here's another example.![]()

Anyway, our lot lies for now in the hands of planning inspector Wendy Burden. We won't have a museum on site, our even huge dramatic spotlights searing the night sky.
But we might, still, have a new home to consider sooner rather than later.

It's pretty depressing comparing our illustrious vision of the future with Spurs' grandiose plans.
Lots will inevitably jump on the 'generic bowl' bandwagon when hopelessly looking for holes to pick in Spurs' vision, however there can be no doubt as to which of the two Clubs is striving to live up to their motto and build a new home in keeping with their Club's status.
Just looking at the proposed nightmare in Kirkby screams Middlesbrough and Derby County, it is truly horrific both in terms of location, setting and design. Spurs' dream may be a little copy-cat of the Emirates but I would be fairly confident that it would be a stadium their supporters will be proud to call home. After all, the noises coming from Levy suggest it will be a marked improvement in terms of 'fan-experience' than Arsenal's swanky but slightly too 'showcase' new home.
I defy anybody to look at the proposed stadium in Kirkby and suggest it is a home befitting a Club of Everton's status. Our stock has fallen over the last 20 years, of that there is no doubt, however we remain one of England's biggest football Clubs whose home should be a symbol of that status. And to think there are so-called Evertonians trying to push this fiasco through.
I dread to think how we'd all be feeling right now if it weren't for the effort and dedication of David Moyes and his players.
Isnt that just a clone of the Emirates painted white?
Ditto Rob N.
What I also like is that Levy says that when the stadium is to built alongside the current ground it will be "more than just somewhere where the team can play football. It will deliver investment for the future of the Borough and benefit the community." Something that DK seems to have got slightly in reverse when wanting us to leave GP...
