DOES KIRKBY OFFER A DUBIOUS SILVER LINING TO EVERTON'S CONTINUING TRANSFER MALAISE?

By Greg O Keeffe on Aug 19, 09 11:45 AM

PREDICTABLY - and perhaps to a degree understandably - the anti-Kenwright sentiment is bubbling over on some forums.

We're all as frustrated as eachother at the moment. Yes, it seems like our club stands alone in its lack of transfer funds, lack of investment and cohesion and lack of a silver lining.

Some people will tell us the silver lining is.....wait for it....Kirkby. That when (which feels more likely now than if) we move to the new stadium, we will be bought out and enter the Nirvana of, well, being able to compete in the transfer market.

I wonder how these two consecutive summers of frustration and floundering have affected the Kirkby debate.

Are anti-Kirkby Blues now re-assessing their stance for the sake of expediency? Thinking we may as well go if it offers our own hope of financial salvation?

Or are formerly pro-Kirkby Blues feeling that if the current board can't gather a reasonable transfer fund for one of the league's best managers after back-to-back fifth finishes, perhaps they aren't really the people to deliver a new stadium.

Meanwhile, today's blank spaces on your computer screen have been filled with rumours about moves for David Bentley and Alan Hutton.

Bentley is a fitfully good player, but also a fool who has blown chance after chance with Spurs. Do we need someone like him right now? Probably not.

Hutton is just a no. We've already missed out on the right-back we wanted to Spurs. Why should we line their pockets for the sake of a cast-off.

And finally Ever Banega. Let's face it, there's no way he's getting a work permit. Here's what we could have won.

Hi Greg
Ever Banega looks really interesting. just what we need a player who spends most of the match lying on the pitch or running around in circles ! Seriously tho he does look very skillful and would provide a good feed to the forwards if we could get a work permit,
Agreed that Bentley and Hutton are not worth the risk and we should be looking for better prospects.
