BIG VICTOR ANICHEBE, EVERTON F.C.'s FORGOTTEN SECRET WEAPON AND STUFF.

By Greg O Keeffe on Nov 3, 09 11:53 AM

ANOTHER prolonged absence from Blue blogging for me and all I can offer is more excuses.

Real job, life, holidays, etc all gets in the way. It's not like there's been much going on though is there?

I mean we only stand on the brink of one of the most momentous decisions in the club's history (Kirkby D-Day on or before November 27) and our on-the-field form is fluctuating more than Jordan's love life.

Kirkby-wise it's like everything that can be said has been said. We just need to know the answer now and then react appropriately.

The heart still says No! and the head still says, reluctantly, maybe.

On the field the Blues are still in phoney war mode. It simply doesn't feel like the season has kicked off properly.

We all now that without the injured artisans like Arteta and Pienaar, and of course our rock Jagielka, we just aren't the same side.

At least on a plus point the Yak appears to be getting sharper with each game - he should be given time and patience to readjust after such a shocking injury.

Billy looks like he has got something to offer and even Heitinga, who the jury was very much out on, played well on Saturday against Villa and showed signs of why he plays for Holland (Babel, Kuyt etc...I know, I know). OK, why he played for Athletico then....

There can be no doubt that we miss Phil Neville too. His leadership and experience would be missed from any side.

I've also heard a few shouts about us actually missing big Victor Anichebe too, and in a way I agree. Granted I had him down as a total no-hoper after his petulance last season but you can't forget his effectiveness as an impact sub in out last Uefa cup campaign.

I would rather see him coming off the bench than stick man Jo, put it that way.

Has everyone got their order in for the purple shirt? I got mine, with the shorts, on Friday. It's the first time I've bought (almost) a full footy kit since I was 12. It's a belter though, and I really hope we can wear it again this season.

Anyway, onwards and upwards to Thursday's show down with Benfica. I'd like us to start the same side which did at Villa and stop the Portuguese from playing the slick, pretty football which tore us apart.

Well there's a bombshell. I'd like us not to get beat. Full of original thought today aren't I?

Good job I don't get paid for this.

You're right Greg.

Vic was used as a winger coming inside last season to devastating effect - notably Aston Villa in the FA Cup... Stoke... and others.

His absence as an auxillary winger has been noticable. Everything through Pienaar's hampered us.

Its why Moyesy's after a winger in January. An open secret. Fingers crossed he can get one. My view is its last piece in the jigsaw to Everton utopia and silverware this season.
